Process

1) Scope

Every website project begins with a thorough scoping process. This ensures we’re both on the same page abot what we’ve agreed to do.

For simple jobs, this can be done via email communication. However, a quick briefing over Zoom is always welcome.

2) Get to Work

After the project scope has been agreed to, and the contract signed, please pay a deposit (defined in our contract) so that I can get to work.

3) Approval

There will be an opportunity to review and ask for changes. This is so I can ensure you’re happy with the work.

Please note: Anything that is significantly out of scope may require a new contract.

4) QA

I never release a website into the wild, unless it’s been thoroughly tested across different devices and web browsers. I’ll also test your contact forms/carts/etc. as needed. You don’t want to potentially leave out a paying customer, do you?

5) Handover

All tested, happy, and done?

I’ll never “own” your website. The keys are yours!

6) After-care

Sign up for a care plan to keep your website healthy and secure.

Inclusions

  1. Cross-browser testing.
Your website will work seamlessly on all major browsers, ensuring a smooth experience for every visitor, no matter how they access your site.
  2. Sitemap submission and crawl request to Google and Bing.
Your site gets indexed faster on Google and Bing, helping it appear in search results sooner so potential customers can find you more easily.
  3. Form functionality testing.
Every form on your site will work flawlessly, ensuring no lost leads or customer inquiries due to broken functionality.
  4. Image speed optimisation.
Your images will load quickly without compromising quality, improving user experience and helping with SEO rankings (i.e. Google will like your website more than competitors).
  5. Ongoing maintenance to keep your plugins updated and reduce hacking attempts (optional).
Your website stays secure and up to date, reducing the risk of hacking and ensuring everything runs smoothly with ongoing maintenance.
web design

The state of my website before working with Lou was very disorganised and unprofessional. It was too bright and old and I was unable to attract in my ideal clients.

When I connected with Lou, I felt very at ease, safe and comfortable. Lou listened to me and was able to create a plan and give me a few options to choose from for my website development. Lou saved me time and energy. I trusted their expertise and previous work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my new website work on mobile phones and computers?

Yes! Having a responsive website is non-negotiable these days.

Whether I’m building a new site, or doing upgrades, I always include a cross browser check as part of my process. Not all devices are the same, so this is to ensure we’re not leaving anyone out of accessing your website.

Who 'owns' my new website?

Your domain and your website are your property! You’ll reain full admin ownership to the finished website, always.

Can you show me how to make simple edits?

Yes!

Can I see some more websites you've worked on before?

Sure! If you tell me about your project, I can share some examples that resemble what you may be after.

Do you know HTML/CSS?

YES and YES! I’m also quite adept with WordPress theme development (including Advanced Custom Fields).

Do you do SEO on my new website?

If this is a redesign, and the site has an existing SEO implementation, it will be carried over.

If this is a completely new website, I will help give you a start. Any ongoing SEO support and content writing (recommended) is the responsibility of the website’s owner.

Can you help with a Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, [insert other web platform here] website?

I exclusively build with WordPress and Squarespace. I do not provide support for Wix or other platforms.

What payment methods do you accept?

Bank transfer and debit/credit cards are accepted via my invoicing system. (Tyro or Stripe.)

Do you offer payment plans? Can I pay in installments?

I’m open to discussing payment plans. Website build projects are usually broken down in installements. Your first payment for a website project is non-refundable.

What extra costs might be involved?

Please note that I won’t charge your credit card for anything “sneaky”! 😉 All my work is paid in advance, and sent via invoice which you must manually pay.

Any additional work not listed in the scope will be discussed with you. If you are in need of logo design, content, or copywriting, I can arrange that for you on your behalf.

You are responsible for your domain name registration, email service provider, web hosting, analytics, and backups.

If you would like me to keep WordPress and any of its add-ons updated on your behalf, I can do this for you for an additional monthly fee. Read more about my website monitoring services.

Do you work with clients outside Australia?

Yes! As long as we can meet online during reasonable working hours for me, or communicate in recorded messages, that’s not a problem.

Do you have any work available for freelancers?

No. I have my own set of selected collaborators that I contact when I need help with anything outside my capabilities.
