The Challenge: A Fragile Digital Foundation
Conquest Games Convention faced a dual hurdle: a digital presence that was difficult for the committee to manage internally and the momentum-killing “pause” of 2020. Every update required technical hurdles, and advertising dollars were being spent without a clear, cohesive strategy to reach the wider community.
The Strategy: Architectural Independence
The goal was to move from a “black box” website to a transparent, high-performance asset. I worked closely with the committee to translate their complex requirements into a streamlined, high-contrast WordPress build.
The focus was two-fold:
- Committee Autonomy: Building a custom back-end that allows any member to update copy, artwork, and functionality without needing a developer for every tweak.
- Market Expansion: Implementing a proactive digital strategy designed to stretch advertising dollars further by targeting high-intent community segments.
The Outcome: 70% Year-Over-Year Growth
By transforming the website into a functional tool rather than a static brochure, the event didn’t just survive its 2020 hiatus — it thrived. The new digital strategy led to a 70% increase in attendance, significantly widening the event’s community footprint and ensuring its long-term financial viability.

From the committee
“Lou has completely rebuilt our website, and in doing so has created a site that any committee member is able to maintain and update with new copy, artwork and improvements to functionality in the future. Lou worked closely with our committee to determine our website requirements, and has been in frequent and proactive contact with us to ensure the site functions as successfully as possible, and also to suggest and implement improvements as our needs change.” Michelle Kent, former committee member, Conquest Games Inc.
“As the Current President of Conquest I have seen first hand the work Lou has done to increase the online presence of our convention. With their help we have reached a wider community and increased our attendance as well as the effectiveness of our advertising dollars.” Bryce Bannon, committee president, Conquest Games Inc.
