Normalising AI content for every little creative problem we have, it reinforces a belief, “I can’t ever do this”.
If you ever felt like you weren’t “made for” writing or creative work, that’s okay. There’s plenty of people who’ll help you out.
But then relying on AI generated content is going to reinforce that belief in you.
I’m not “afraid of AI” — I just don’t like some of the things people do with it
It’s pretty clear that yes, I personally am vehemently against AI generated content. In addition to environmental concerns, I am concerned about people losing faith and confidence in their own abilities. I’m also pained by the knowledge of creative individuals losing their jobs. I’m also concerned about the toll it’s taking on low-wage workers in the Global South.
Yes, I do understand wanting to hand work off to someone else because of a belief that “I’m not creative enough.” The problem is that if you don’t try to make something yourself, you won’t appreciate the work involved in making something good.
What do you think? Has using AI generated content made you feel less capable of creating work yourself?
I fear if we rely on it too much, we’ll lose our capacity to formulate messages with our own minds.
Reminder about staying connected with me
Do you follow me on social media? Just wanted to let you know, social media accounts can get hacked or shut down without warning. Yes, it’s happened to me due to technical glitches, and bad actors trying to [unsuccessfully] hack me!
We praise AI so much for making life easier, but it still makes mistakes. It can get overzealous with pattern matching, and take down accounts willy-nilly.
