How I Work

TL;DR: Just so you know how I work: I run structured sessions or projects where we focus on one outcome at a time. That way you get a clear result by the end.

What I’m Here to Do

I operate as a Strategic Partner, not a technical assistant. While a junior designer or VA might focus on ‘fixing’ small tasks, I focus on the digital architecture that drives revenue. I work with clients who value high-level strategy over ad-hoc troubleshooting.

Why Me?

Here are some key aspects that make me different to other freelancers:

  • Most designers focus on how a site looks; I focus on how it drives revenue.
  • No meetings, unless you want them. I work with a custom portal that lets you and me work asynchronously.
  • No lock-in contracts. Ever. Our partnership is fueled by results, not fine print. You have the flexibility to scale our engagement up or down as your goals evolve.

SEO and Lead Generation Projects

When we work together on SEO and lead generation, the focus is entirely on clarity and results. I don’t believe in filling your inbox with “fluff” or your calendar with unnecessary calls. Here is the framework for how I handle these projects:

Strategy Rooted in Business Outcomes

If a specific tactic or task doesn’t directly help you achieve business outcomes, it doesn’t go in the plan. I’m not interested in doing work just for the sake of “doing SEO.” Every action we take is designed to build a lead generation system that actually works for your specific practice or firm.

An Asynchronous, Meeting-Free Approach

Your time is best spent with your clients, not in a Zoom room. I work asynchronously to ensure progress happens without disrupting your day.

  • No recurring meetings: We only jump on a call if it is absolutely necessary to get a job done.
  • Centralised updates: You’ll have a dedicated hub to see exactly what is happening, in your own time.

Authentic, Human-Written Content

I don’t use AI-generated “slop” to fill pages. Every piece of long-form content is written by a human, for humans. I focus on building authority and trust with your audience, ensuring that when people find your site, they actually want to work with you.

Focus on Real Results, Not Vanity Metrics

Ranking for a random keyword that brings zero conversions is a waste of resources. I ignore vanity metrics like “impressions” or “hits” that don’t translate to growth. We track what matters: enquiries, bookings, and revenue.

Agility Over Rigidity

The digital landscape moves fast. If the world around us changes, I won’t stay locked into a strategy we drafted 12 months ago just because “that’s what the plan said.” I’d be doing you a disservice if I ignored a shift in the market. We remain flexible and adapt our tactics to keep your lead gen system effective.

Zero Lock-in Contracts

I believe in the quality of my work, which is why I don’t use long-term lock-in contracts. You stay because the partnership is valuable and the results are there—not because a piece of paper says you have to.

Website Projects

I am committed to maintaining the highest standards of transparency and professionalism throughout the website development process. It is natural for questions and uncertainties to arise when creating a website, and I am here to guide you every step of the way. No one is expected to be an expert from the start, including myself.

Typically, a website project with me follows this structured process:

  1. You communicate your goals and we define the functional requirements of your website.
  2. I assess the content needs, whether it involves creating new material or simply redesigning existing content.
  3. I proceed with assembling and developing the website components.
  4. I will provide clear updates on the next steps at every stage. Should you have any questions at any time, please feel free to contact me.
  5. We collaboratively review and test the site, launch it, and, if applicable, integrate analytics or CRM systems.

This approach ensures clarity, efficiency, and a successful outcome aligned with your goals.

AI Policy

If you are keen on using AI to help with your website, I want you to know this:

  • AI can be wonderful at brainstorming and generating ideas, but I don’t believe it’s a great substitute for your entire business strategy.
  • If you’d like to show me an idea for your website that AI generated, that’s fine. I’ll let you know if it works with your business goals.
  • AI generated images or content may not have the best impact (i.e. represent your business in the best possible light) and,
  • I won’t populate your website’s pages with AI generated content as part of my service. You are welcome to add whatever you wish to your website, and I’m not going to police you there. I’m just not going to do it for you, if asked. Generative AI undermines the work of photographers, illustrators, designers, and copywriters; and this is something I can’t bring myself to participate in.

AI Disclosure

I do use AI tools in my work, but not in ways you’d think:

  • I never use generative AI decide how your website should look or function.
  • AI is sometimes used to fast-track research and idea generation. I do ask it for sources, and will double-check facts manually.
  • Occasionally, I will use AI to generate code for me to save time. However, this is always done with my oversight, and it’s always with code I have experienced writing manually.
  • I will use AI to turn audio files into transcripts. This is done with software on my computer, so the material is never sent away to train LLMs.
  • AI “listening” and transcription may be used in Zoom meetings. This material is not used to train LLMs.

Generally, I use AI tools to work smarter, not harder. For me, AI is never a replacement for important business decisions or detailed, creative pieces of work.

What It’s Like to Work Together

To ensure we’re a great fit, I believe in radical transparency about how I work. My goal is to build a high-performing digital asset while protecting your time and mine.

1. I Build the Engine (Content is Your Fuel)

When I build your website, I am engineering a digital application designed to help your ideal clients understand and choose you. However, please note that copywriting and image sourcing are separate disciplines and are not automatically included in the project fee. If you don’t have these ready, we can discuss them as additional strategic layers.

2. Traffic Isn’t Magic

A brand-new, high-converting website is a powerful tool, but it is not a traffic generator on its own. A new site won’t automatically result in a flood of visitors. You must be prepared to actively grow and nurture your audience—your website’s job is to convert them once they arrive.

3. Less Work, More Trust

I am here to reduce your mental load, not add to it. Choosing to work with me means you trust my expertise to make big-picture decisions on your behalf. We focus on outcomes, not micro-management.

4. Zero “Performative” Meetings

I value your time as much as my own. I won’t force you into meetings that could have been an email update. We utilise a dedicated Asynchronous Strategy Portal—a central hub where you can review progress and assets in your own time, without the pressure of being “on” for a scheduled call.

5. Mutual Investment in Your Goals

For this to work, you need the headspace and genuine interest to tackle your business goals with me. I am fully committed to your success, but I require that same level of engagement. If I feel the interest in the project has stalled, I will pause my work to protect the integrity of the strategy.

6. Professional Terms

To keep our focus entirely on the project and maintain a streamlined workflow, all services are paid upfront. This ensures that once we start, our only priority is the work itself.

Neuro-inclusivity & Communication Style

Being neurodivergent myself, I do by best to operate in a way that suits everyone’s different communication preferences. However, please also be aware of how I prefer to communicate.

What that means specifically:

  • Asynchronous by Default: My default way of collaborating on projects with you is via recorded videos, and my purpose-built, private portal. This allows you to see and comment on progress in your own time. Meaning, you don’t have to be “on” for meetings if that doesn’t suit you.
  • Respecting Your Sensory Needs: If you have trouble with verbal communication, or eye contact in conversation, please let me know! I’m more than happy to facilitate conversations in a way that makes you feel comfortable.
  • ⚠️ How I Communicate: I might look away from your face or the camera during meetings. This is not because I dislike you or that you have done something wrong. It’s also not a sign of lacking confidence. For me, it’s simply a natural way my mind works in social situations. Sometimes, looking directly at someone’s face or a camera can be overstimulating for my senses, so I do this to help me focus better and process information more effectively. It’s just a personal trait that helps me engage in the conversation in my own way.
  • ⚠️ I’m not an “On Call” Service: I work in scheduled blocks of time, not spontaneous phone calls. If you need that type support, a partnership with me might not be a good fit for you. However, I’d be happy to connect you with a service provider in my network that may better suit your style.

Starting a Dialogue With Me

You are most welcome to email me or send me an audio/video message before you book paid services. If you would like me to do something that falls outside of my main offers, I’ll do my best to seek out a suitable service provider who can help.

Why I won't take your business enquiry over Facebook or Instagram:

I treat my work as a Digital Architect with a high level of precision, which requires deep work and zero distractions. I’ve found that DMs encourage “instant” reactions rather than “strategic” actions.

  • New Enquiries: Please use my use my contact form to start a conversation over email
  • Active Projects: All comms stay in the Strategy Portal.
  • Retainers & Partners: Once we’ve established a long-term partnership, I provide a direct escalation line via Telegram/SMS for high-priority requests.

The state of my website before working with Lou was very disorganised and unprofessional. It was too bright and old and I was unable to attract in my ideal clients.

When I connected with Lou, I felt very at ease, safe and comfortable. Lou listened to me and was able to create a plan and give me a few options to choose from for my website development. Lou saved me time and energy. I trusted their expertise and previous work.
